EU–Mercosur Agreement: a new framework for international trade

On 17 January, the Partnership Agreement between the European Union and Mercosur was formally signed, marking a significant milestone in international trade and bringing to a close more than 25 years of negotiations.

This agreement establishes one of the world’s largest free trade areas, connecting two economic blocs that together represent more than 700 million consumers. Its impact will be far-reaching, with direct effects on supply chains, trade flows and the customs framework between Europe and South America.

For companies, logistics operators and other stakeholders, this new context may result in greater predictability, harmonisation of rules, simplification of procedures and the creation of new business opportunities, while simultaneously requiring strategic and operational adaptation.

In an international environment undergoing constant change, the WLP team closely monitors the evolution of trade agreements and regulatory frameworks, ensuring up-to-date information and consistent support so that clients can make informed and strategic decisions.
